Meet the Founder
Hello!
My name is Nicole Farrell. I founded Rubber City Development Consulting in 2020 after being laid off from my nonprofit executive position due to COVID. I decided to take my future in my own hands and set out on my own as a freelance grant writer. Here we are—30 million dollars later.
I have supported organizations in 35 countries and 40 states through grant writing, fundraising, fractional leadership and strategic planning. I am very diversified in my experience and regularly tackle foundation, corporate, state, federal, and international grants as well as government contracts. I appreciate a challenge and really enjoy working with changemakers around the world.
Volunteering is very important to me. I currently sit on 10 nonprofit boards including Akron Promise (Educational Attainment), Big Love Network (environmental justice), Just Cats Rescue, Stronger Together Akron (outreach to homeless sex workers), In Bloom (sex education & harm reduction), Summit County 4-H (youth education), Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio (youth development), Professionals Advocating for Wildlife (supporting the Akron Zoo), Ronald McDonald House Northeast Ohio (supporting families of hospitalized children), Akron NAACP Environmental Justice Committee. I also run a 4-H club, volunteer with PBS Western Reserve in their education department and teach boxing at Akron University.
I bet you’re asking yourself: “she’s so busy how can she be effective for my organization?”
The truth is: I am like a dog, I need a lot of enrichment or I will chew on the couch (okay maybe not that bad), but this is my enrichment and I really enjoy balancing various challenging projects. Additionally, my return on investment speaks for itself! My average return on investment is 500% with 4,600% being my greatest return on investment. So rest assured, I can effectively impact your nonprofit without sacrificing quality or ROI!
